Ear Care
One of the most common causes of ear pain and impaired hearing is the build up of earwax. You may experience itching, dryness, slight pain or hearing loss. Earwax is a yellow, waxy substance secreted in the ear canal. It plays an important role assisting in cleaning and lubrication and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungi and insects. Excess or impacted earwax can press against the ear drum and block the external auditory canal and impair hearing.
Your ear canal and eardrum are very delicate, and you may hurt them or cause bleeding by trying to get rid of wax with a cotton bud. Poking around in your ear can push and pack the wax in further, so never use cotton buds in your ears. Using ear drops to soften the wax, or using a gentle saline wash is considered the safest and most effective way to remove ear wax. Our pharmacist recommends the Ear Wax Complete Care solution.
