Haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen and inflamed veins around the anus or lower rectum and may be internal or external. Haemorrhoids may be caused by lack of fibre or fluid in the diet, straining, diarrhoea, obesity or pregnancy. Internal haemorrhoids cannot be seen or felt, but straining can cause bleeding. External haemorrhoids may result in pain, swelling, or a hard lump around the anus. When irritated, they can itch or bleed.
If you suspect you are experiencing haemorrhoids for the first time, it is advisable to be examined by your Doctor who will recommend the most appropriate treatment solution. If haemorrhoids are an intermittent but not severe occurrence the following may help: increasing your fibre and fluid intake, going to the toilet as soon as you feel the urge and not straining a bowel motion. Our pharmacist recommends the Haemorrhoids Complete Care solution.
